Comedians tee off for laughs

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — The public is invited to attend and laugh at the hysterical antics of celebrity comedians at the sixth annual SWT Celebrity Comedy Scramble.

The Celebrity Comedy Scramble begins at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the SWT Golf Course at Aquarena Center. The event is free of charge and open to the public. The scramble puts celebrity golfers in a variety of difficult and improbable golf situations that require athletic and comedic improvisation.

This year’s Comedy Scramble will feature comedians such as Bill Engvall, Brant Von Hoffman and Ron White. Engvall, Von Hoffman and White are nationally known stand up comedians. Later Sunday, at 6 p.m., SWT will host the Celebrity Celebration Dinner at the LBJ Student Center on campus. Tickets are $45 and may be reserved through the SWT Office of Special Projects by calling 245-2368. G.W. Bailey will emcee the evening with friends from the Police Academy movies. Award-winning comedian Bill Engvall has been invited to perform this year. The celebrity dinner will include a silent and live auction, a buffet dinner and live entertainment by several attending celebrities.
