Schroeder named outstanding student at SWT
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Christina Ann Schroeder of Mission has been named the 1999 recipient of the Lyndon Baines Johnson Outstanding Senior Student award at Southwest Texas State University.
The award is given annually by the SWT Alumni Association and is the highest honor accorded to an undergraduate student at SWT. The award recognizes a student who has demonstrated scholarship, integrity and leadership. It carries a $1,500 cash stipend.
Schroeder will receive the award during spring commencement ceremonies, where she will also receive a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting and a minor in business administration.
Schroeder received many honors during her college career, including the Roy F. and Joann Cole Mitte Scholarship and the President’s University Scholarship. She holds a 3.74 grade-point average and belongs to the Golden Key, Alpha Chi, Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Eta Sigma, Beta Gamma Sigma and Tau Alpha Chi honor societies.
She has served as a member of the General Studies Council, as a peer advisor for undeclared majors and as a facilitator in the Freshman Leadership Program. She is active in the First United Methodist Church of Mission. The Mission High School graduate is the daughter of Jim and Jann Schroeder.
Schroeder was selected for the award through a nomination process that included an interview with the SWT Alumni Association Board members and Lyndon Nugent, SWT graduate and grandson of the universitys most distinguished alumnus, President Lyndon B. Johnson.
