SWT announces faculty promotions and tenure

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Southwest Texas State University has promoted 32 faculty members and approved tenure for 27.

The measures will take effect on Sept. 1 and were approved by the Texas State University System Board of Regents at its regular meeting May 12 and 13 on the campus of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

Promoted from associate professor to professor (with academic department in parentheses) were Jon Bible (finance and economics), Francine Carraro (art and design), Craig Colten (geography), B.J. Friedman (family and consumer sciences), Robert Garnett (finance and economics), Kenneth Grasso (political science), Martha Hofer (political science), Peter Hutcheson (philosophy), John Mogab (finance and economics), Lucille Montondon (accounting), Randall Reid (art and design), Carlos Rodriguez (curriculum and instruction), Grant Simpson (educational administration and psychological services), Marion Tangum (English) and Ron Walter (chemistry).

Promoted from assistant professor to associate professor were Elizabeth Blunk (family and consumer sciences), Joni Charles (finance and economics), William Dare (finance and economics), Sylvia Crixell (family and consumer sciences), John DeLeon (technology), David Easter (chemistry), Dana Garcia (biology), John Garcia (educational administration and psychological services), Howard Hudiburg (music), Roselyn Morris (accounting), Susan Morrison (English), N. Chinna Natesan (management and marketing), Cynthia Peterson (curriculum and instruction), Garland Upchurch (biology), John Walker (health, physical education and recreation) and Benjamin Zhan (geography).

Promoted from instructor to assistant professor was John Lopez (music).

Granted tenure were Tod Amon (computer science), Frederick Blevens (mass communication), Elizabeth Blunk (family and consumer sciences), Jaime Chahin (social work), Craig Colten (geography), Sylvia Crixell (family and consumer sciences), William Dare (finance and economics), John DeLeon (technology), David Easter (chemistry), M.
