SWT students place nationally in sales contest
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — Southwest Texas State University students Erin Chase of Corpus Christi and Amber Ondrusek of Rockwall have placed in the top six sales teams nationally in a Sales Scholarship Competition sponsored by Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company.
After being named regional winners, the students, under the direction of instructor Vicki West, advanced to the national level and placed among the best students in the country.
The contest was an opportunity for students to demonstrate their selling skills in a simulated presentation using role-playing. The scholarships ranged from $2,500 for the first place to $500 for sixth place.
Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company was rated among the top 10 best sales forces in the country by Sales & Marketing Management in its November 1996 issue. A panel of 100 experts, including sales executives, renowned authors such as James Champy and Harvey Mackay and business school professors from Harvard, Wharton, and other leading institutions chosen from over 400 companies.
