Nash to be honored at Aquarena Center
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — San Marcos businessman and former Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission Chairman Chuck Nash will be the guest of honor Saturday, April 4, at a dinner at Southwest Texas State University’s Aquarena Center.
The event, sponsored by the Freshwater Angler Association, begins at 5 p.m. with glass-bottom boat rides. Dinner is at 7 p.m.
Nash will be honored for his contributions to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and for his efforts as one of the state’s leading conservationists. Nash has served on the Parks and Wildlife Foundation Board and is also on the board of directors of the Freshwater Angler Association.
He has been a leader in an effort to form a partnership between SWT and the TPWD to build a conservation center at Aquarena to study rivers and estuary systems. He has been named Conservationist of the Year by the Sportsmen Conservationists of Texas and Outstanding Wildlife Conservationist by Hays County.
Cajun chef and comedian Justin Wilson will be the keynote speaker.
Tickets are $100 each. A table for eight in the Guadalupe Bass seating section is $1,500 and a table for eight in the San Marcos Salamander seating section is $800.
