In Brief: ‘English in Texas’ journal garners NCTE honorable mention

English in Texas, a journal edited by Jane Saunders, Gwynne Ash, Lori Assaf and Carol Delaney of Texas State University, and Valerie Taylor of Eanes Independent School District, has received an Honorable Mention in the 2015 National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Affiliate Journal Award.

The award, established in 1995, honors outstanding affiliate journals and their editors who demonstrate excellence in these publications. English in Texas is published by the Texas Council of Teachers of English Language Arts. 

The wining affiliate journal must be a magazine-type publication and provide members with scholarly articles on issues and topics related to English language arts teaching. The journals are judged on content, organization, layout and physical appearance. The published articles judged on quality of writing, evidence of research and scholarly exploration.
