Julie Wisdom-Wild, a Texas State University alumna, has been named 2014 Woman of the Year by the San Antonio Business Journal.

Wisdom-Wild also received the Inspirational Leadership Award.

Wisdom-Wild is CEO of Alpha Home, a non-profit substance abuse treatment center that provides men and women with the help and support to overcome substance abuse and make the transition to become a productive member of society.

The Woman of the Year award recognizes a woman who has demonstrated a lifetime of achievement and has benefited the community with her experiences, inspiration and leadership.

Wisdom-Wild said receiving the award is a “tremendous honor” and credits her team for their hard work.

"This award would not have ever happened without the incredible team of program directors and board members at Alpha Home," Wisdom-Wild said.  "Many people work really hard every day to make Alpha Home what we are today--a 48-year-old business with a mission that serves hundreds of women and families each year."

In addition to CEO duties, Wisdom-Wild has personal contact with the clients of Alpha Home, whether it’s teaching a class, giving a speech or reassuring women they have come to the right place. Wisdom-Wild said Alpha Home has a longer length of stay than other programs and is gender specific, so women feel comfortable addressing issues.  Alpha Home focuses on spirituality and responsibility for self.

Wisdom-Wild is a graduate of the Applied Arts and Sciences program at Texas State. She has been the CEO of Alpha Home for 11 years.

"I am honored to be the CEO of this amazing place," Wisdom-Wild said.
