The summer 2014 issue of Hillviews magazine is now available in digital format and may be viewed on your PC, laptop, tablet, e-reader or smartphone. The free app can be downloaded at this link:  www.ua.txstate.edu/campus-connections/hillviews.html.

The Hillviews app does not replace the Texas State Mobile app for iPhones and Androids, which is primarily used by current students. The Hillviews (HV) app is a free digital edition of the magazine with added content such as videos  and audio.

The  summer issue, “Big Numbers/Big Future,” features stories about the outcome of Texas State’s Pride in Action campaign; an anthropological study on natives of the Eagle Nest Canyon in West Texas and how they lived thousands of years ago; a profile of four brigadier generals who started out in the Air Force’s reserve officer training program at Texas State; a peek into the University Archives, which contain several items of historical significance that make Texas State special; and the 25th anniversary of the university’s “club sports” lacrosse team.

The issue also includes alumni profiles of longtime Dallas TV anchorwoman Gloria Campos, Florida’s Gatorland CEO Mark McHugh, and the university’s newest “Hero,” Richard Castro of El Paso. Several other stories highlight people, programs and activities related to Texas State that have impact on the university community and society as a whole.

Hillviews, published three times a year, is distributed to members of the Texas State Alumni Association (alumni.txstate.edu), but the digital edition is available for free.
