Stan McClellan, director of the Ingram School of Engineering at Texas State University, will be one of the featured speakers at the Energy Thought Summit March 24-25 in Austin.

The Energy Thought Summit will be held at the Paramount and Stateside Theaters, and will bring many of the world’s thought leaders together for two days to debate the state and future of energy. McClellan will participate in the M2M panel session on Tuesday morning, March 25.

"Issues related to energy--including generation, storage, recovery, management, and security--have become some the 'grand challenges' of modern society," McClellan said. "Energy Thought Summit brings together policy makers, business leaders and technology experts to discuss aspects of these very important issues. The speakers scheduled for Energy Thought Summit represent a cross-section of all of the major players in the energy sector.

"I'm excited to represent Texas State in this powerful agenda, which provides unique opportunities for networking and thought-provoking discussion," he said. "I think it's appropriate for this meeting to be hosted in Central Texas, which may become an epicenter of the combined 'grand challenges' of water conservation, population growth, and energy that will affect future generations."

In addition to McClellan, other speakers include Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computers; George Arnold, national coordinator, Smart Grid Interoperability-NIST; Jon Wellinghof, chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission; John Hewa, CEO of Pedernales Electric; John Scott, chief of the Energy Conversion Branch at NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center; and Jim Marston, vice president, U.S. Climate and Energy, and founding director of the Texas office of Environmental Defense Fund.

The Energy Thought Summit is offering memberships to Texas State students for $450, a 30 percent discount off the regular admission. Registration may be completed online at www.regonline.co.uk/Register/Checkin.aspx?EventID=1376648&lbrd=1&rtypeid=365467.
