Christopher Reyes, a senior in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Texas State University and H-LSAMP scholar, has been awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Program Fellowship.

Reyes, who is scheduled to graduate from Texas State in May, has been accepted into Duke University’s chemistry doctoral program for fall 2014.

Reyes' selection was based on his outstanding abilities and accomplishments, as well as his potential to contribute to strengthening the vitality of U.S. science and engineering.

The GRFP Fellowship period is up to five years, with support provided for a maximum of three years. The stipend for 2014-15 is $32,000 per 12-month fellowship year.

Over the course of the GRFP fellowship period, Reyes will have the opportunity to take advantage of additional programs offered through the GRFP, such as Graduate Research Opportunities Worldwide (www.nsf.gov/grow), which offers fellows the opportunity to enhance their professional development through 3-12 month international research collaborations.
