Texas State University will be offering campus tours in observance of Generation Texas (GenTX) Day, Friday, May 2.

The Central Texas council (CenTX GenTX) of the statewide Generation Texas movement is housed in the Center for P-16 Initiatives at Texas State University. This year CenTX GenTX will be hosting a tour of the Texas State campus, and also a college signing day at Lehman High School in Kyle on GenTX Day.

The 2014 GenTX Day campaign is featuring a PicTour Contest, in which Texans are encouraged to take a college tour on GenTX Day and participate in the online photo contests at www.GenTX.org. Educators, businesses and non-profits are encouraged to host a college signing/decision ceremony on May 2. Generation Texas will award iTunes gift cards to the winners.

Generation Texas aims to inform and inspire students in communities across Texas to be college-minded and career-ready. GenTX Day is a statewide effort to motivate Texas students--through campus visits--with a real-world college experience that inspires them to visualize career goals and take the steps to achieve them.

Texans are encouraged to wear shirts featuring the college of their choice on May 2 to show support for GenTX Day.

The GenTX Day tour of Texas State is free and open to the public. To reserve a spot, contact Isaac Torres at it10@txstate.edu or (512) 245-8192.
