Louis Jimenez named to head up Registrar's Office at Texas State

Louis E. Jimenez has been named registrar at Texas State University, effective Sept. 9.

Jimenez will oversee a staff of seven in the registrar's office at Texas State, serving a student population of nearly 35,000.

Jimenez comes to Texas State from the University of Alabama, where he served as senior assistant university registrar in Tuscaloosa, supervising a staff of 13 and overseeing more than 34,000 students. Prior to his tenure at Alabama, he served as district registrar for Edison College in Fort Myers, Fla., from 2006-07; senior associate director of admissions and records for Auburn University, Auburn, Ala., from 2003-06; university registrar for Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Ken., from 2001-03; director of records and registration at St. Philip's College in San Antonio from 1999-2001; and assistant registrar for Baylor College of Medicine in Houston from 1998-1999, among others.

He earned his industrial technology B.S. in 1988 from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Ill., and his M.S. in management in 1990 from Troy University, Troy, Ala.

Jimenez is a member of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and the Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
