As a part of this year’s Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Conference, Texas State University will host a special lecture series for educators on Sunday Oct. 20 from 1-5 p.m. at the Embassy Suites San Marcos Hotel and Conference Center.

The event will feature the testimony of teachers, parents and law enforcement officials who experienced firsthand the tragedies at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Deer Creek Middle School, Platte Canyon High School and Columbine High School.

Discussions will focus on tactics for the prevention of school-place violence and real-world solutions for ensuring safety and security in the aftermath of an emergency.

This portion of the ALERRT Conference is open only to teachers, administrators and school officials. Texas State affiliation is not required. Members of the media are also welcome and encouraged to provide coverage of the event. For more information, contact Diana Hendricks by email at hendricks@alerrt.com or by phone at (512) 245-1744.
