Texas State University-San Marcos has acquired a full set of Balinese gamelan gong kebyar instruments and is inviting all students to attend one of the open workshops being offered to test out the new musical equipment.

Workshops will be held Sept. 7 from 5-7 p.m. and Sept. 8 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in room 222 of the Music Building. Students need no previous musical experience to attend.

The instruments are added to the music department through funding from the Student Service Fees Commission and the College of Fine Arts and Communication. The workshops, as well as performances and related events will take place to showcase the new Texas State artifacts.
