The Texas State Strutters will be among the featured performers at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, Nov. 22, in New York City.

The event will be televised nationally by NBC at 9 a.m. in all U.S. time zones. Fifty million viewers are expected to tune in.

The Strutters will perform to “Kickin’ in the Macy’s Parade,” written by Emmy Award winners Bill Schermerhorn and Doug Katsaros, and sung by Broadway star Adrienne Warren.

The Strutters are taking 103 dancers to New York for the performance. They will return to San Marcos on Friday, in time to perform at the Texas State-UTSA football game on Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

The Strutters were the first precision dance team founded at a four-year university and are currently the largest such dance team in the country. For 53 years, they have served as ambassadors for Texas State nationally and internationally, with performances in 24 countries on four continents.

This will be their second performance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Other historical highlights include two presidential inaugural parades, numerous NFL and NBA halftime performances, a national television commercial for Coca-Cola, appearances in five movies and on the television program “America’s Got Talent.”

They are under the direction of Susan Angell-Gonzalez.
