GenTX Day celebrations are scheduled to take place on high school campuses across Central Texas May 4, with large events planned at Del Valle and Akins high schools.

The Central Texas regional headquarters for Generation Texas is housed in the Center for P-16 Initiatives at Texas State University-San Marcos. Isaac Torres is the Central Texas outreach director for Generation Texas, and a grant specialist for the center on campus.

“In a sign of solidarity with the movement, we would love to see the entire Texas State University and San Marcos community wear their favorite college t-shirt on Friday, forming a critical mass highlighting the importance of a higher education.” Torres said.

The winner of the GenTX regional high school video contest will be announced may 4. Students were asked to create a two-minute YouTube video depicting why they are the future of Texas. Cash scholarships will be awarded to the winners.
