Guest composer Péter Louis van Dijk and his wife, Junita Lamprecht van Dijk, will be joining the School of Music at Texas State University-San Marcos for a week of shared learning April 16-21.

Péter and Junita are professors at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Péter has established himself as an imminent South African composer and Junita has developed the Chamber Singers at Nelson Mandela to be one of the leading choral ensembles from the African continent. They've both won several international choral competitions.

The guests will offer a variety of events at Texas State during their stay. They will hold clinics with Texas State choirs, guest lectures for several courses and hold a feature speaking engagement for the Musician's Forum. Peter and Junita will also conduct the choirs in a concert with Texas State Chorale and University Singers with guest orchestra musicians on April 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Evans Auditorium on campus.

Their time at Texas State will culminate in a recording session at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in San Marcos on April 21 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This session is the first of a two-part recording project to capture and disseminate the choral music of Maestro van Dijk.
