Texas State University-San Marcos School of Journalism and Mass Communication will host its annual Mass Communication Week Oct. 17-20, bringing local and national media professionals to the Texas State campuses.

The four-day conference consists of panelists, presenters and interviews that examine the current state of the media through discussions of various issues, trends and careers in mass communication. Students will be connected to industry experts, allowing them to network and learn through hands-on training and big-picture analyses of emerging issues in mass communication.

Some of this year’s presenters include Nakia, semi-finalist of NBC’s “The Voice;” Burnie Burns, creator of the Internet machinima series “Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles;” Hugh Forrest, South by Southwest interactive director; and Brian Stelter, media reporter for the New York Times. Stelter’s discussion will accompany a screening of the recent documentary, “Page One: Inside the New York Times.”
