The Texas State University-San Marcos’ Department of Geography co-sponsored the 42nd Binghamton International Geomorphology Symposium on the campus of the University of South Alabama from Oct. 21-23.

The papers of the symposium will be presented in a special issue of the international journal Geomorphology in early 2012, under the co-editorship of Texas State Regents' Professor of Geography David R. Butler and Carol F. Sawyer of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of South Alabama.

The event focused on the topic "Zoogeomorphology and Ecosystem Engineering" and featured presentations by 15 renowned geomorphologists and ecologists from the United States, Canada, France, Scotland, England and Australia. There were also more than 20 poster presentations from participants in the U.S., England, Sweden and Norway.

The Binghamton Geomorphology Symposium series is North America's longest-running and most recognized annual meeting on geomorphology. Each year, the meeting focuses on a specific topic and features experts from around the world.
