Texas State AITP named Outstanding Student Chapter

The student chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) at Texas State University-San Marcos was named Outstanding Student Chapter during the 2010 AITP Region 3 Student Conference.

The conference, held Oct. 21-23 in Houston, hosted 24 colleges and universities with 306 students in attendance. The Texas State AITP student chapter finished with more wins than any other school attending the conference. Texas State AITP's student chapter members placed as follows:

  • 1st Place Application Development - Doug Fogle & Kelly Forciea
  • 1st Place Network Design - James Thorne & Michael Gairo
  • 1st Place Database Design - Doug Fogle & Kelly Forciea
  • 2nd Place Database Design - Shannon Flynn & Sarah Terrall
  • 3rd Place Database Design - Erin Armstrong & Dotti Bolt
  • PC Troubleshooting Finalists - James Thorne & Jack Chen

The Texas State AITP contest team consisted of Ashley Emanuel, Brendan Johnson, Chase Borden, Claire Taylor, Clint Rasmussen, Dotti Bolt, Doug Fogle, Erin Armstrong, Grant Lloyd, Jack Chen, James Thorne, Joe McGowan, Karlye Morris, Kelly Forciea, Meg Hinojosa, Michael Gairo, Sarah Terrall, Sean Hargrove, Shannon Flynn, Steven Martinez, Steven Vassilaros, Tan Truong, Tony Bardales and Travis Houston.

The Texas State AITP faculty advisors are Kevin Jetton and James Cook. The CIS Chairman is David Wierschem.

AITP is a national organization composed of professionals, students, and volunteers in the field of information technology. The Texas State AITP student chapter participates in numerous events and community out-reach programs, familiarizing members with the nature and functions of IT in the business world.
