2010 Presidential Award honorees announced

Texas State University-San Marcos President Denise Trauth has announced the 2010 honorees for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Scholarly/Creative Activities, Excellence in Service and the Presidential Seminar Award.

These awards are given annually to faculty members who have demonstrated outstanding performance in teaching, outstanding performance in scholarship and outstanding performance in service.

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Teaching go to: Professor/Associate Professor rank, Kathleen C. Peirce, Department of English; Assistant Professor/Instructor/Lecturer rank, Gwendolyn Hustvedt, Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Scholarly/Creative Activities go to: Professor/Associate Professor rank, Michael Forstner, Department of Biology; Assistant Professor/Instructor/Lecturer rank, Soon Jae Lee, Department of Engineering Technology.

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Service go to: Professor/Associate Professor rank, Linda Homeyer, Department of Counseling, Leadership, Adult Education and School Psychology; Assistant Professor/Instructor/Lecturer rank, David S. Nolan, School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The Presidential Seminar Award goes to James LeSage, Department of Finance and Economics.

A selection committee composed of faculty and students reviews nominees for each award. The awards will be formally presented at the University Convocation and Annual General Faculty meeting 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, in Strahan Coliseum.
