The Stars of Texas Music Legacy Series will be featuring the Band of Heathens as well as the Trishas for a free concert 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Glade outdoor theatre on the Texas State University-San Marcos campus.

The Band of Heathens deliver a unique brand of Texas twang and country soul to their audience. During 2007’s South By Southwest Conference, the band members accepted the award for Best New Band as well as runners-up awards for Band of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Record Producer and others. Individually, members of the band were also recognized by the Austin music community as nominees for Musician of the Year, Best Male Vocalist, Best Bass Guitar and Best Acoustic Guitar.

The Band of Heathen's new record “One Foot In The Ether” is currently no. 3 on the Americana Radio Chart in the United States (after only 4 weeks on the radio), and sits at no. 1 on the Euro-Americana Chart for October.

The Trishas

The Trishas

The Trishas--Jamie Wilson, Liz Foster, Kelley Mickwee and Savannah Welch--came together for a tribute to songwriter Kevin Welch at 2009's Steamboat Music Festival. From the moment they stepped off the stage, it was obvious their chemistry would lead to more shows, and they've been performing together ever since.

This event is free and open to the public. The Stars of Texas Music Legacy Series is being sponsored through Gary Hartman and the Center for Texas Music History and Richard Cheatham, Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication.
