Biedermann honored by health information group

Sue Biedermann, associate professor and chair of the Health Information Management Program at Texas State University-San Marcos, has been honored as one of two top educators in the field by the American Health Information Management Association.
 
            Biedermann was named as a recipient of the AHIMA Foundation Triumph Award, which recognizes professionals for outstanding accomplishments in health information management. The awards were presented at a recent conference in Grapevine, Texas.
 
            Biedermann received one of two Educator Awards for her dedication to advancing her students’ skills in the classroom and the workplace. She was specifically recognized for helping to develop the first online HIM administrative program in Texas and for initiating the development of an HIM Research Institute to assist in workforce preparation.
 
            Biedermann joined the Texas State HIM Program faculty in 1980 and was named program chair in 1984. She is a past president of the Texas Health Information Management Association.
