Secondhand Serenade will headline the inaugural Texas State University-San Marcos Student Foundation Welcome Back Concert Series Sept. 20 at the Cotton Gin.

Sponsored by the Student Foundation as part of that group’s 30th anniversary celebrations, proceeds from the concert will go to support scholarships for Texas State students.

Gates open at 5 p.m. at the Cotton Gin, located at 441 Railroad Street in Maxwell, approximately 10 minutes east of San Marcos.  Free bus transportation will be provided 4 p.m. to midnight from Bobcat Stadium on campus.

“A concert event in the area is long overdue. Campuses all across the country have tremendous success with bringing in national artists,” says Student Foundation Alumni Advisor Melinda Keller. “This is a win-win for our organization. The students get a great concert experience and we fund scholarships at the same time. We are very excited to offer this opportunity.”

Secondhand Serenade has steadily climbed the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with the current hit, Fall for You, off his second album A Twist in My Story. The album finds Secondhand Serenade--real name John Vesely--adding onto his signature raw vocals and guitar with the use of orchestration and a full band. Secondhand Story has spent the better part of the past year making appearances on MTV, Yahoo! Music, AOL, Music Choice and Rolling Stone, among other places.

Tickets to the Welcome Back concert are available at www.FrontgateTickets.com and Sundance Records in San Marcos. Tickets are $20 presale and $25 at the gate, with three opening bands to be announced.
