The Texas State University Police Department will be hosting its 6th Annual Shop with a Cop program at 8 a.m. Dec. 8 at the San Marcos Wal-Mart.

The UPD’s “Shop with a Cop” program will provide eight students from grade levels 1-4 with a $100 shopping spree, and four kindergarten students with a $50 shopping spree. All children selected will be students in the San Marcos CISD.

The children are instructed to draw picture of what they imagine it would be like to “Shop with a Cop at Wal-Mart.” The drawings will be displayed at UPD headquarters and voted on by police officers to determine the winners. The winners will be accompanied by a uniformed police officer from the UPD while the student is enjoying their shopping spree. The winning drawings will then be displayed at Wal-Mart throughout the holiday season.
