The nomination deadline for the Texas State University-San Marcos Outstanding Women Awards has been extended to Dec. 15.

The Center for Multicultural and Gender Studies will host the Texas State Outstanding Women Awards Luncheon at noon on Feb. 28, 2008, in the LBJ Student Center Ballroom to kick-off the 2008 celebration of Women’s History Month in March.. The theme for 2008, in coordination with The National Women’s History Month Project, is Creative Expressions of Women. At Texas State, we will focus on the creativity of women in all academic disciplines.

The Women’s History Month Committee, requests nominations for current Texas State women: one member of the faculty and staff each, in addition to a graduate and undergraduate student. We invite you to nominate women for all categories. Try to make the nomination without contacting the proposed recipient. (See  nomination form for criteria and nomination procedures for the current Texas State women categories at this link.)

Also, we are pleased to have the opportunity to honor an alumna from each college.  For the alumnae category, note the following criteria: outstanding accomplishments in her field and, in keeping with the theme, evidence of creativity in her work. Send a brief paragraph with a summary of the nominee’s accomplishments. Send a resume, if you have one, and you are short of time. We will honor your selection; therefore, please contact your nominee to verify that she can attend. We prefer honorees who can join us for the celebration luncheon.

Nominations will be accepted until the extended deadline of Dec. 15.  Send your information in one of the following ways: e-mail: mcgs@txstate.edu or campus mail: MCGS, Flowers Hall, Room 336. We will need the following contact information for your nominee: a telephone number, e-mail, and/or mailing address.

We look forward to your support.  See our web archives for highlights of our previous Women’s History Month Awards luncheon.
