A group of students from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University attended the National Writers Workshop in San Antonio May 19-20 to mix with media professionals and to offer their insight on the profession as well.

The students will publish a blog during the workshop as part of a mini-session class called Seminar in Journalism being taught by Senior Lecturer Kym Fox. Prior to the workshop the students studied more than a dozen journalists who will present sessions at the workshop. They posted their research on the blog before to heading off to the conference.

Once at the conference, the blog will focus on the students’ impressions of the workshop and issues in mass communication. The workshop is sponsored by the Poynter Institute and the San Antonio Express-News. Fox was an editor at the Express-News before joining the Texas State faculty in 2002.
