The Department of Geography will host the 13th Annual Alumni Reunion and Student Celebration on Saturday, April 28 from 1-11 p.m. at the Aquarena Springs Center and Pavilion on campus.

The event is open to faculty, staff, students, alumni, sponsors, scholarship and award recipients and friends and family of attendees.

Early registration is ongoing through April 25 for a cost of $10 per person. The cost rises to $15 per person if registering April 26-28 or at the event. Scholarship and award recipients, volunteers and children under 12 are free. Registration includes admission to all activities, free glass bottom boat rides from 5:30-6 p.m., access to the silent auction, a souvenir program and a barbecue dinner.

The Annual Alumni Reunion and Student Celebration provides the geography department a venue for alumni and current students to mingle. Alumni serve as role models, counseling and sharing their views on a host of important issues, including potential internships, employment, resumé preparation and salary negotiation. Students also have the opportunity to observe the importance of graduates staying connected to faculty and staff.

The student celebration portion of the event provides an opportunity to recognize individual students who have excelled in scholarship and service to the program.

In addition, the department will recognize generous individuals who have provided major financial support by establishing permanent endowments to honor their loved ones.

The event will culminate in the distribution of more than 20 scholarships and awards to current students.
