Roselyn Morris named Department of Accounting chair

SAN MARCOS — Roselyn Morris has been named chair of the Department of Accounting at Texas State University-San Marcos effective Sept. 1.

Morris earned her undergraduate degree in mathematics from Texas Christian University and a master’s of science in accountancy and Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Houston. Since joining the McCoy College of Business Administration in 1993, Morris has served as interim chair for the Department of Accounting and as associate dean for Undergraduate Programs.

Morris’ honors include the Texas Society of CPAs (TSCPA) Outstanding Educator Award, the McCoy College Teaching Excellence Award and the Technology Innovation Award from the Accounting Instructors’ Report.

Her teaching and research areas include auditing independence and ethics. She has been active in the Texas accounting profession since 1976 and is actively involved in both the local and state levels of TSCPA where she served as chair of the Relations with Educational Institutions committee. She currently serves on the editorial board and professional ethics committees and is a foundation member on the Accounting Education Foundation. She is also a member of the qualifications committee of the Texas Board of Public Accountancy.

Morris is the faculty sponsor for Beta Gamma Sigma, Tau Alpha Chi, and co-sponsor for the Accounting Club and Beta Alpha Psi at Texas State.
Additionally, she is active in a variety of civic organizations and was inducted into the San Marcos Women’s Hall of Fame.
