Texas State prepares for spring commencement

SAN MARCOS—United States Sen. John Cornyn will be the featured speaker
at one of four commencement exercises held May 12 and 13 at Texas State University-San Marcos.

Senator John CornynCornyn, a former District Court judge, Texas Supreme Court justice and Texas attorney general, will speak during the commencement ceremony to be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 13, in Strahan Coliseum on the Texas State campus. Cornyn was sworn into the U.S. Senate on Dec. 2, 2002, succeeding Phil Gramm.

A total of 2,754 students are candidates for degrees at Texas State this spring, making this commencement potentially the largest in the history of the university.

Degree candidates from the College of Applied Arts and the College of Fine Arts and Communication should attend the ceremony to be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 12.

Degree candidates from the McCoy College of Business Administration and the College of Science should attend the ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday, May 12.

Degree candidates from the College of Education and the College of Health Professions will attend the ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 13.

Degree candidates from the College of Liberal Arts will attend the ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13.

All four ceremonies will be held in Strahan Coliseum on the Texas State campus.
