Texas State’s T. Cay Rowe receives top regional honor from CASE

SAN MARCOS—District IV of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has presented T. Cay Rowe, interim vice president of university advancement at Texas State University-San Marcos, with its highest honor.
Rowe received the organization’s Distinguished Achievement Award during the annual district conference, held April 9-12 in Oklahoma City. The award is the highest award given by CASE for professional achievement and service, and is presented only to those who uphold the highest standards of the education advancement professions.
Larry D. Lauer, vice chancellor for marketing and communication at TCU, chaired the selection committee that chose Rowe for the honor.
“T. Cay is one of the top higher education marketing and communication professionals in the Southwest. She is well-known and highly respected by everyone in all of university advancement,” said Lauer. “When I presented the award, the audience jumped to its feet and shouted and applauded with joy. The selection committee indeed made a popular choice.”
Rowe has worked in university advancement, marketing and communication for 33 years. Her career began in the TCU office of communication in 1973. She accepted a public affairs position at the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center in 1980. She joined Texas State (then Southwest Texas State University) as director of University Relations in 1988. She became director of Media Relations and Publications at Texas State in 1994 and was named assistant vice president for university advancement in 2004. She has been interim vice president for university advancement since January 2005.
During her career, Rowe has won many awards for achievement and service to CASE and to Texas State. She was the university’s employee of the year in 2002. She has received more than 20 awards from CASE, five of them Grand Awards. In 2002, her team won CASE International’s Gold Medal Award for its Centennial Campaign communication program.
Rowe holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and a master’s degree from TCU.
