The Opera Workshop presents Dialogues of the Carmelites

SAN MARCOS—The Opera Workshop will present Francis Poulenc’s Dialogues of the Carmelites8 p.m. March 31 and April 1 at the University Performing Arts and Conference Center at Texas State University-San Marcos.

Stage director Cheryl Parrish has teamed with Director of Opera Cina Crisara to present the tragic tale from the French Revolution. The powerful story follows Carmelite nuns who--after being expelled from their convent by the authorities--vote to die in martyrdom. Featuring voice students from the School of Music, principal roles are performed by graduate students Madeline Elizondo and Elizabeth Schwab joined by Paige McManus, Will Hearn, Amanda Shelton, Christin Toerner, Seth Lafler, Jason Slayden and Matthew Lynch.

Soprano Cheryl Parrish has performed operas around the world and is a valued member of the Texas State faculty. This is the eighth opera presentation in three years for Crisara.
